I've tried with and without DRM, with and without Xft -- all the
same. I've also tried installing all of KDE from packages (albeit
3.0, not 3.0.2 -- is there a place for 3.0.2 packages anywhere on the
net?). Same storry.

I am doing a portupgrade -NRrf x11/kde3, this should take a while.
If that fails, I'll try to build kdebase with debugging enabled...

In the meantime, if anyon comes up with any more ideas/suggestions --
feel free... :)
