hey jaap
I use the port magicfilter because ease of setup. I don't know if it
supports Canon 4400 But it does support HP laserjet III
To install:
cd /usr/ports/print/magicfilter
make install
make clean (to remove unneeded files)
follow instructions in the docs. Below is my /etc/printcap
you could add a second printer by having lp and lp1 both defined in
etc/printcap.
lp|local line printer:\
:sh:\
:lp=/dev/ulpt0:sd=/var/spool/output/lpd:lf=/var/log/lpd-errs:\
:if=/usr/local/libexec/magicfilter/deskjet-filter:\
:mx#0
