I did a fresh install of FreeBSD on a new gateway of mine, and after doing=
=20
so logged in via SSH* on my windows system, ran /stand/sysinstall, and the=
=20
world was good. I saw colors, the menus were happy, everything was fine.
I then log in to the server from another system via SSH (or telnet)** on=20
another of my FreeBSD systems. I was logged into this system from the=20
console (monitors a Compaq 140, I think it's a 14") . Again, the colors=20
show up, I can switch between buttons, everythings great.
Now, I go back to the windows system (It's running 2k pro) and login...
I open up /stand/sysinstall like before, but this time, it's horrible. The=
=20
initial "Probing Devices" screen only has two blocks of blue, both at the=20
bottom left corner of the gray box that has "Probing devices, please wait=20
(this can take a while)..." in it.
When it loads up, the colors are also messed up, the display still isnt=20
right. If I go left, right, left, right several times this is what shows at=
=20
the bottom of the screen:
=A6[Select] X Exit Insta Select [X Exit Install[Select] X Exit=
=20
Install
Select [X Exit Install[Select] X Exit Install Select [X Exit=20
Install[S
elect] X Exit Install Select [X Exit Install[Select] X Exit=20
Install Sel
ect [X Exit Install[Select] X Exit Install
It isn't updating properly. It does the same under telnet on win2k. I tried=
=20
lookign up some info using Google, and I found mention of tset, and reset.=
=20
I've tried both, but they haven't done anything that helps.
Can anyone point out what I need to do here? Do I need to remove some=20
setting file, or change a setting in some file? I looked in my ssh=20
directory in my home directory. All I have is known_hosts & random_seed in=
=20
my .ssh directory in my home directories.
I've never encountered anything like this before myself, and another friend=
=20
that had this problem some months ago lived with it until he re-installed.=
=20
I'd prefer not to do this. :0)
Any help would be appreciated,
-Mike Wolfe
