I I think your "path" variable is incorrect. Type 'set' and you should see something like this (assuming you're in the C shell):- ... path (/home/johnny/bin /bin /usr/bin /usr/local/bin) ... Yours may look slightly different, but it should certainly have /bin and /usr/bin at the minimum. Root's path should also have /sbin and /usr/sbin.
