Sounds like the driver is configuring the card wrong.

1) Try running "ifconfig ep0 media 10baseT/UTP" to force the card
   to 10Mbps half-duplex.  If this works, add "media 10baseT/UTP"
   to your ifconfig_ep0 line in /etc/rc.conf to make it permanent.

2) Try a different hub/switch.
