SUBJECT: JUBILEE CONCERT OF CHRISTIAN SINGERS/SONG-WRITERS IN SCHIO
(VICENZA), ITALY
</bold> An International Jubilee Concert of Christian
singers/song-writers, "THE WORLD SINGS OF MARY", will take place on
Sunday 30 April at the Astra Theater, Schio (Vicenza), Italy, starting at
8.30 p.m. It is being organized by the St Maximilian Mary Kolbe
Association of RADIO KOLBE, based in Schio. This musical event has been
devised in the context of the Jubilee Year, in particular with a view to
introducing a new CD of Christian music from around the world, bearing
the same title as the Concert. This CD includes 20 tracks by an equal
number of Christian singers/song-writers from all over the world, who
have offered their best songs dedicated to Mary in support of charity.
Ten of the personalities featured on the CD have been invited to appear
in the Concert, all of them first-rate performers of Italian and
international Christian music. Two important contemporary music artistes
head the bill.
The event is intended to be a major fraternal meeting with the people of
Schio and, in response to the words of the Holy Father, John Paul II when
introducing the Jubilee Year, an opportunity to foster reconciliation
among all peoples and, above all, with God.
For the city of Schio, the Concert will be a further milestone on
the road towards the Canonization of Blessed Josephine Bakhita, which, as
already announced by the Holy Father, will take place in the Vatican on
Sunday 1 October 2000. This will be the first time a citizen of Schio has
been proclaimed a saint.
The artistes taking part in the Concert are among the best
interpreters of contemporary Christian music in various continents. We
might single out, for example,<bold><bigger> ISADORA from Colombia, Latin
America, </bigger></bold>who has made available her artistic and musical
talent acquired during many years of TV successes in that continent,
dedicating it entirely to evangelization through music and testimony.
<bold>GIUSEPPE CIONFOLI</bold> from Bari, who became known to a
wider public some years ago through his successes at the Sanremo
Festival, is still active in promoting Christian music throughout Europe.
<bold>TONI BUNGARO,</bold> from Rome, who will be representing light
music at the Concert, is a singer/song-writer famous through his
participation and success (Critics' Award) at Sanremo. Toni will be
singing several of his hit tracks in Schio, including the well-known song
"Credo", which was a great success when performed by Gianni Morandi.
<bold><bigger>DAVID PATRICK BRYAN (United States) </bigger></bold>is
another front-rank singer/song-writer featured on the CD. For many years
Bryan has sung at Christian music concerts throughout America.
The following singers/song-writers will also be appearing in the Concert:
<bold><bigger>from Barcelona, Spain, and just back from his tour of
Mexico, LUIS ALFREDO DIAZ,</bigger></bold> a Christian singer/song-writer
who has a good 30 albums to his credit, and has been promoter of several
Christian music festivals;<bold><bigger> from Zagreb, Croatia, LUKA
BALVAN</bigger></bold>, a well-known young singer/song-writer who has
twice sung in the presence of the Holy Father; from Caserta, REMY VARONE,
who will be accompanied by his wife Maria Rosaria; from Verona,
<bold>Father GOTTARDO GHERARDI; from Naples, Father DOMENICO JERVOLINO,
and from Imola, PATRIZIA TRONCOSSI.and from Torino,AURELIO PITINO
president International Gospel Jubilee, PIERGIORGIO BUSSANI from Liguria
</bold>will be compering the Schio concert, to which admission is free of
charge.
