Hello, i would like to keep updated ports collection on my FreeBSD 4.2. Is there any tips? Well - for example i tried to make install for lsof - but unfortunately i couldn't even fetch from the list of servers in Makefile. [root@freenix lsof]#make install >> lsof_4.52_W.tar.gz doesn't seem to exist in /usr/ports/distfiles/. >> Attempting to fetch from ftp://vic.cc.purdue.edu/pub/tools/unix/lsof/. fetch: lsof_4.52_W.tar.gz: Not logged in >> Attempting to fetch from ftp://vic.cc.purdue.edu/pub/tools/unix/lsof/NEW/. fetch: lsof_4.52_W.tar.gz: Not logged in >> Attempting to fetch from ftp://ftp.cert.dfn.de/pub/tools/admin/lsof/. fetch: lsof_4.52_W.tar.gz: File unavailable (e.g., file not found, no access) >> Attempting to fetch from ftp://ftp.cert.dfn.de/pub/tools/admin/lsof/NEW/. ^Cfetch: lsof_4.52_W.tar.gz: Unknown FTP error ...... I don't really know what the problem with that. So i tried ftp manually to ftp6.freebsd.org and found there lsof but 4.55 instead of 4.52 as in my ports collection is looking.... So what should i do this way? As i can see there's some ways: 1. I can keep my 'ports' updated with CVS or something? (really preferable way - i guess). 2. I can download the package and pkg_add it. 3. What actually is better do this way when the version of package in ports older that actual package on ftp site?
