Only if you know the reason the checksum mismatched. It's much safer to remove the distfile and re-fetch it; often vendors will make "minor" changes to their distfiles after releasing a given software version, which is what causes the distfile to change. You might have the old version, on the other hand you might have already downloaded the new version, in which case re-fetching won't help, and you should submit a PR or talk to the teTeX maintainer about updating the MD5 sum.
