It gets things because the people using it want it to have those things. > My question to you is two-fold: 1) If dummies run the industry > and TCO rules why not let them have it? Well, as someone who's been contributing things to BSD since CSRG was doing distributions, I personally would rather spend time making FreeBSD better for people who know what they're doing. If doing so makes it easier for idiots to use, that's nice - but it's certainly not a design goal. I DO NOT speak for anyone else contributing to FreeBSD, including you. If you want it to have something, what you can do that is most likely to that addes is contribute it yourself. If you don't want to contribute directly but can contribute funds, hire a contractor to work on the libh project, or buy hardware that you would like supported to send to the people developing the drivers. If you can pay for the developers time as well, it'll help. > 2) It does not take much more then ./configure; make; to port Oracle > source to FreeBSD. If you tell me where I can get the source with a license that allows redistribution, I'll get it added to the ports tree. http://www.mired.org/home/mwm/ Independent WWW/Perforce/FreeBSD/Unix consultant, email for more information.
