While we rarely see 1394 ports these days on the new computers, adapters are inexpensive and easily available on the market. There are people with various camcorders which support video capture over 1934 and I remember debugging over it was fast and easy to set up with the dcons(4) driver. So, might be reconsider this? If there are some outstanding issues with it like Giant usage, I'll try to come up with some patches (allow for some time as I'm not a seasoned kernel hacker). Thanks, ./danfe
