On the other hand, trying to go from SunOS 3 or 4 (or BSD 4) to other systems - HPUX, AIX, OSF, RiscOS, UniCOS and SunOS 5 being the easy ones to recall - left users wondering what the hell had hit them. Being compatible with other vendors was so unimportant to most vendors that the unix market was generally regarded as balkanized. <mike -- Mike Meyer <mwm@mired.org> http://www.mired.org/consulting.html Independent Network/Unix/Perforce consultant, email for more information.
