Now, this also works:

        Option      "FrameBufferCompression"    "False"

.. I have a similar era device to him and had the same problem.

I'd like to see FreeBSD just install and run without a hitch. :) Is it possible
to somehow make the framebuffer compression option stay disabled on i830 for
now? Or just merge in this patch for the time being?
