 FWIW, my original plan was to clean the port and update some of the patches
 rather conservatively.
 
 For some abnormal reason I ended up doing a lot more things and now I have a
 different port that I am testing right now. I basically got rid of the old
 types.h and wait.h headers we were carrying and started using the POSIX stuff.
 The new port will be submitted shortly in a new PR.
