It is working fine using a shell script and "chio" to move tapes around, with dump for the FreeBSD filesystems and "smbtar" for the NT ones. All I had to do was to compile the "ch" ooption into the kernel and to remember to "mt rewind" and "mt offline" before moving the cartridges around. ADIC supplied me with the keys for the unit, but they appear to be the standard PC keyboard lock key. I'm using an Adaptec 2940UW for the tape drive and CD. Backups are pretty fast, running at up to 2.2MB/sec for local disks via dump. I am going to try setting up amanda24 with this unit; any warnings?
