I set DISPLAY to a remote machine (wanna see who's in my office right
now :). the xfqcam window appears on the machine I set the DISPLAY for
but immediately disappears with the following:

blues> xfqcam
X Error of failed request:  BadAccess (attempt to access private resource denied)
  Major opcode of failed request:  129 (MIT-SHM)
  Minor opcode of failed request:  1 (X_ShmAttach)
  Serial number of failed request:  547
  Current serial number in output stream:  549
blues> 

xfqcam is running fine locally on the target machine .
Any clues?
