Purser both reported their dismay at seeing a new release of FreaBSD appear shortly after installing 2.2.5, and wonder about upgrading. If it's any consolation, I'm still running 2.2.2 and have no plans to upgrade. It was good when I installed it and I haven't broken anything yet. If it does what you want, use it! I only upgrade when I can't avoid it any longer. Of course there may be good reasons for upgrading to 2.2.6 that I'm not aware of (I haven't taken much interest to tell the truth). Be aware that upgrading FreeBSD is not at all like upgrading windoze. First you really do have to read all of the info available and know what you're doing, and it's more of a manual process. The system assumes you'll know to make all the necessary decisions and trusts that you'll do so correctly. If I was going to upgrade, I'd subscribe to freebsd-questions after the release and watch it like a hawk for a couple of weeks first. PS What do you all think of the new nastygram below my sig? Does it sound too rude? -- Regards, -*Sue*- # Note: Some of the context of this thread may have been lost. # The formatting of the message didn't allow a normal quoted reply. # For more details see http://www.lemis.com/email.html To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-newbies" in the body of the message
