I'm sitting in my motel room at the moment dialed into San Francisco
to read my email and I don't think that this is the most practical
method for me to stay up to date. ;)

If some kind local (to L.V) ISP would be willing to grant me
a temporary ppp dialup account (which is all I need - I can do
the rest via ssh), I'd really appreciate it.  You know how hard
it is to do dialup networking via a calling card? ;-)
