I checked some of my machines that have been upgraded to 4.5, and they have pam_ssh modules from earlier version of FreeBSD. So.. what would be the correct way to install/enable pam_ssh auth in 4.5-RELEASE? Is the module not included in /usr/src/lib/libpam/modules/Makefile for a reason? Any pointers on this are much appreciated. A half-answer and complete-question-followup if I may? I believe "pam_ssh" is included in the openssh "suite," and/or available in the ports collection (search at www.freebsd.org). Now for the complete-question-followup half of my post ;) Can someone direct me to a well-written handbook/FAQ/URL description of what pam is and why a sysadmin or user would want to not be without it?? I don't know where to start in understanding it! I use ssh 100% of the time and have turned off telnet and ftp (inbound) in my /etc/inetd.conf and have made symlinks called "telnet" (to ssh) and "ftp" (to sftp), but man login and such don't inform well about pam.
