If you're not using gdm, you can still play with .login_conf, or you can set your locale variables in ~/.xinitrc. I recommend setting LANG and CHARSET explicitly. Try to use the format: en_US.ISO_8859-1 Instead of the newer: en_US.ISO8859-1 Both should work (and if you find bugs, let us know), but many apps assume the former. > > 3.
