According to the documentation, FreeBSD 2.05 does support the 3Com 3c509 card, which is the one I am trying to use. However, the the driver, ep, is known to have problems. Which is probably why I can't get mine to work. I have reconfigured the kernel to find the card and it does that and reads the settings (that is, the card type and ethernet address) at boot time. And, "ifconfig ep0" shows the correct information. But, no packets are ever sent out nor received (ping doesn't work).... I have a 3c579 card to try, will that work? Around here there are no other cards available. Does anyone have any ideas?? Could you point me toward some FAQ or the location of an updated driver??
