You can mount the iso without burning it: mdconfig -a -t vnode -f image.iso -u 0 mount -t cd9660 /dev/md0 /mnt After reading your post a second time, I'm no longer sure if I understood you correctly. You don't expect mkisofs to change the date for you, right?
