I think it would have been better to add the junk to CLEANFILES iff there
is an obj directory.  Now the junk is not removed if the make is aborted
while the junk exists.

It might be even better to strip the path prefix in mk_cmds so that the
linking convolutions are not required for std_rqs.ct.  compile_et
already seems to strip the path prefix, so the linking convolutions are
not required for ss_et.c.
