            Bug ID: 282549
           Summary: graphics/drm-kmod or graphics/drm-61-kmod
           Product: Ports & Packages
           Version: Latest
          Hardware: amd64
                OS: Any
            Status: New
          Severity: Affects Some People
          Priority: ---
         Component: Individual Port(s)
          Assignee: x11@FreeBSD.org
          Reporter: web@umich.edu
             Flags: maintainer-feedback?(x11@FreeBSD.org)
          Assignee: x11@FreeBSD.org

I am a bit out of my depth here, but this may be a bug in the drm-kmod syst=
em
according to what I have been told. I am running FreeBSD 14.2-STABLE on a =
T16
ThinkPad. Prior to upgrading to 14.2-STABLE this problem did not exist, but
since then I have upgraded my ports and that may be the reason.

Upon power up normally boot messages by the dozens scroll across the laptop=
's
LCD screen. After the O/S upgrade (and many ports also upgraded) the lapto=
p's
screen is blank -- no "login:" prompt, no final boot time messages.

It was suggested to me to try making a change to my /etc/rc.conf file. This
change was to comment out this line:

   kld_list=3D"amdgpu"

Then after rebooting the laptop, the boot screen was again "normal". I don=
't
know how this change worked, or if it pertains to the drm-kmod sub-system, =
but
the person who suggested this change also suggested that if it worked, and =
it
did work, that I should submit a bug report, which I am now doing. Thanks.
