Assuming you're using the standard keyboard map (/usr/share/syscons/keymaps/us.iso.kbd), make a copy with an appropriate name and change the following line: Before: 083 del '.' '.' '.' '.' '.' boot boot N After: 083 del '.' '.' '.' '.' '.' halt halt N This is described in the man page kbdmap(5), which was only written a few months ago.
