If I replace rc.diskless1 to 3-stable version, it is fine and no-trouble under 4-current diskless client. From CVS log of src/etc/rc.diskless1, I think someone forgot to commit newer and sophisticated code in 4-current and only committed in 3-stable by Luigi.
