It is. At the moment my whole FreeBSD system is sandwiched between a FAT and an NTFS on the single disk. I want to keep at least / on the first HD so I can boot it from the NT boot menu. I'm planning to add the second HD, create 2 slices (3.8GB & ~700MB), mount the latter on /mnt, copy everything I want (/etc and the /usr stuff), then delete the existing FreeBSD slice on the first HD, re-size the FAT and NTFS, leaving a 352MB hole (64 + 32 + 256) and then re-install FreeBSD using the "full sources, binaries and docs" distribution. This is the size of the /usr stuff that I want to save. You can see why I don't want to restore it from tape (and yes, I have made a full system backup to DAT). marder-1:/usr/marko{53}% ls -R | wc -l 29599 marder-1:/usr/marko{55}% du -Ls 569775 . > What are you going to do with the 700 MB when the changeover is > finished? > Just leave it unused until I need it. > If I were using this space, I'd keep /usr on the rest of the first > disk and make the second disk /home.
