I had to pull ruby-gnome2 (include all ruby-gtk2 too) from SVN and create  
a tarball on my own. I have updated in MC ports to 0.16.0.20071004, which  
fixed the build issues with GNOME 2.20 stuff. I have installed gnome-art  
and it works for me. Maybe if you update it and it will working for you  
too.
