I selected a few packages and= =20 proceeded to install. This hanged sysinstall completely. The emergency shell was still work, but= =20 sysinstall could not be killed (even using -KILL) and pkg_add and related=20 processes had a pid 0. It took about 15 seconds for the "Installing ... from acd0" message to turn= =20 up, and that also is the last thing I saw. I used VTY4 to reboot the machine and packages are now installing correctly= =20 from cd-rom. The only thing "odd" about this installation procedure, is tha= t=20 I left the machine running the base install, and came back roughly an hour= =20 later, so the cdrom wasn't used for at least > 30 minutes. This is an Asus PII-BS motherboard, one SCSI drive, one secondary master cd= =20 rom. As soon as I've got the machine up and running, I can send specifics,= =20 like dmesg.boot. Since I suspect this to be an ATA problem - if somebody from the ata team=20 needs a specific command to be run, or hardware / bios config let me know. =2D-=20 Melvyn =3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D= =3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D= =3D=3D=3D=3D=3D =46reeBSD sarevok.idg.nl 5.2-CURRENT FreeBSD 5.2-CURRENT #0: Wed Jan 28 18:= 01:18=20 CET 2004 =20 root@sarevok.lan.webteckies.org:/usr/obj/usr/src/sys/SAREVOK_NOAPM_NODEBUG = =20 i386 =3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D= =3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D= =3D=3D=3D=3D=3D --Boundary-02=_0/9HAnQzWAz1Qvj Content-Type: application/pgp-signature Content-Description: signature -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.2.4 (FreeBSD) iD8DBQBAH9/0Ov9JNmfFN5URAp1HAKCasBs5/j1xyu5dT9CEmUkXYdvdhwCfVV0K AwbwplFF7RXWNRQ77RnsNMM= =oQmU -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- --Boundary-02=_0/9HAnQzWAz1Qvj--
