I have a problem with the installation of X Windows with the FreeBSD 2.1.6 (Walnut Creek CDROM distribution). There is no problem installing the OS kernel. However, when the installation utility tries to switch to graphics mode to configure X-Windows, I get the following error several times: _X11TransSocketUNIXConnect: Can't connect: errno=2 Sometimes with errno=61. This is with the standard VGA 16 color server; however, I believe this is embedded in the instatllation utility to run that particular server for the configuration of XFree86 I originally thought it has to do with my video card, but it should have no problems with running a standard VGA server. I have a ATI Mach 64 video card (ATI XPression+). Anybody with any ideas? John jyi@ucsd.edu
