This will shrink the base system and the base system sources by quite a bit. I like it. Don't mind installing perl on a machine via a port when I need it. And useradd(1) I did myself once in C (not really usable for in the distribution, and my C code stinks anyway :) so that should be trivial to do. I say ditch it. You are absolutely welcome to.
