I planned on just looking for the answer to this one in the mail archives, however I see that the archives can still not be searched. So. I take my question to this list, with hopes someone can answer this one. I have installed the qmail package, and I am now trying to run qmail-pop3d. I have asked this question on the qmail mailing list, but I didn't receive an answer. For those of you who have used qmail and qmail-pop3d know, you have to use the checkpassword program. The only thing that isn't working right now is that none of my passwords are being recognized. I have not edited /etc/master.passwd at all, I am just using previously created accounts. I can connect to my pop3 server just fine, however, I get disconnected when it comes to the password. My guess is that checkpassword is looking for the passwords in /etc/passwd and since freebsd uses /etc/master.passwd, something has to be changed for this to function properly. To anyone out there running qmail and or checkpasswd, what do I need to do to get checkpasswd to recognize my passwords? I am running freebsd 2.2.5-release. Thanks.
