Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Sender: owner-freebsd-questions@FreeBSD.ORG Precedence: bulk X-Loop: FreeBSD.ORG I needed to do a kernel build, but didn't have the source. So I used /stand/sysinstall to install what was needed from my installation CDROMs. Unfortunately the install program objected to my #1 CDROM (from the 4.2 RELEASE 4 CD distribution ) with the following message: **************************************************** Warning: The CD currently in the drive is either not a FreeBSD CD or it is an older (pre 2.1.5) FreeBSD CD which does not have a version number on it. Do you wish to use this CD anyway? **************************************************** So I clicked "yes", but no response. This is the distribution I installed from, and I can access it with ls, less, pkg_add. I put my other FBSD 4.2 removeable hard drive into my machine ( Thinkpad laptop ) and tried /stand/sysinstall -- no problems. I used the same distribution to install on this HD. I suspect my installation, rather than the CDROM distribution. What do you think? Thanks.
