Oh, yeah.  You said that earlier in the thread.

Unfortunately, my i7500 was stolen so I don't have it anymore for direct 
comparison.  I have an i8000 with a CD-RW/DVD, though.

I do have

options 	ATA_STATIC_ID		#Static device numbering

Not sure why, but it's the only ata'ish thing that's any differennt from 
yours.
