Lo and behold, Mark Stout once said: > I tried using tcpdump, but can't configure the device /dev/bpf0. What > do I need to do to configure this device? > > Thanks, > Mark 1 - you need to be root when you run tcpdump. If that fails: 2 - you need to have a device /dev/bpf0. If you don't, make one with /dev/MAKEDEV If that still fails: 3 - you need to have bpf support compiled in to your kernel. Recompile the kernel with: pseudo-device bpfilter 1 in the psuedo devices list. Note that these are listed from easiest to most time consuming. It's quite likely that the culprit is both 2 & 3. - Dave Andersen -- angio@aros.net Complete virtual hosting and business-oriented system administration Internet services.
