A Bcc: chat would escape that. :-) So would rewriting the "To:" header to point to the list(s), and putting all non-list members in the original "To:" and "Cc:" on a rewritten "Cc:". Personally, I think that header rewriting is evil, even if it is perfectly RFC compliant to do it, but it would certainly fix your complaint.
