A few weeks back I had to replace the motherboard in a server, and the only motherboard with ATA RAID I could get locally was an MSI Neo2 Platinum (nForce 3 chipset). I initially just swapped the board out and booted back into i386 mode, but I just tried to reinstall with 6.0-REL-amd64. I get a corrupt boot loader screen and the following information when I hit enter a few times: int=0000000d err=00000000 efl=00030002 eip=0000ffff eax=000500b2 ebx=000503d6 ecx=00059214 edx=00050000 esi=00059194 edi=0005999c ebp=00091cb0 esp=0000c3dc cs=d000 ds=d6cf es=9b8a fs=0033 gs=0033 ss=d6cf syms=[0x8+0x8c268+0x8+0x7 (i think this bit is from the corrupt boot process) cs: eip=ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff-ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff-ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ss: esp=ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff-ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff-ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff BTX halted I've tried disabling as much as I can in the BIOS but I still get the same error. Is there anything else I could look into that might cause the issue or is it a motherboard fault? I'm new to amd64 and I had expected the install to go as sweetly as i386 (wish I'd booted the install CD before running pkg_deinstall -a!). Oh well :( Ashley PS if there is no way round this, can anyone recommend a good FreeBSD compatible amd64 board that comes with ATA RAID?
