Well, i've never heard of any such problem so far. (The console driver doesn't matter too much here, but mine is also vt0.) My xterm menus, emacs menus etc. do work as usual. (But i didn't install XFree86 3.1.1 yet due to lack of time rolling the compilation. Anyway, my 3.0.1Z [beta] version might not make a big difference here.) Can you try to log into a ``as generic as possible :)'' account and see if it's still broken? (Just to make sure the application defaults for xterm ain't broken.) Can you track the XEvents with xev?
