Hi, I recently picked up a used Archive Viper 150 tape drive
to replace an old Wangtek 5099ES. I am using the SCSI controller
on the PAS-16D. I am getting an error message whenever I use
tar to backup some files with the Archive drive:
eg: if I type "tar -cvf /dev/rst0 file1 file2 ... "
The kernel responds with:
"/kernel: nca0/5/0 data length underflow"
(When I restore the files they are corrupted.)
Does anybody know what this error message means? This never
occurs when I use the Wangtek 5099ES, only with the Archive
drive. Do I need to configure the device somehow to use
a different recording density? (ie does it matter that
the Arhive is QIC-150 while the Wangtek was QIC-24?)
Could the drive be faulty?
Any help would be appreciated.
