I am using graphics/graphviz, http://www.graphviz.org/, for graphs drawing. It uses an input .dot file containing the graph description and produces a image (.jpg or .ps) with the visual representation of the graph. I used to generate those .dot files from the data in my programs and process them with graphviz. I am not sure that may be it even exports API to be directly called.
