Mark Johnston <markj@FreeBSD.org> changed:

--- Comment #1 from Mark Johnston <markj@FreeBSD.org> ---
The code suggests otherwise:

        physical =3D 1;
        while ((ch =3D getopt(argc, argv, "LP")) !=3D -1)
                switch (ch) {
                case 'L':=20=20=20
                        physical =3D 0;
                        break;
                case 'P':
                        physical =3D 1;=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=
=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20
                        break;

It also appears to work as documented:

> mkdir foo
> ln -s foo bar
> cd bar
> /bin/pwd
/home/mark/foo
> /bin/pwd -L
/home/mark/bar
>=20

I suspect the problem is that the shell may provide its own pwd builtin whi=
ch
does indeed behave differently.
