This is how -CURRENT behaved on my T23 with ACPI enabled, but only prior to
the large ACPI import in the fall (October sometime?).

Try issuing a 'hint.acpi.0.disabled=1' before issuing your 'boot -v'
command.  This will disable ACPI and may fix your problem.
