Suggestions: ftp#.freebsd.org Tier-I, Primary sites, etc. These would be CNAME or duplicate A records for a Tier-II name. ftp#.cc.freebsd.org Tier-II Secondary sites, sites not carrying the full distribution and collections, etc. Every site could have this style name, regardless of whether they carried the full content. Benefits: -- Easy ability to distinguish between Tier-I-capability sites and other sites. -- Easier ability to change the pointers for Tier-I sites. Ie: ftp4.us.freebsd.org would still be ftp4.us.freebsd.org, but it'd be easy to retarget the ftp4.freebsd.org record to point to ... ftp.hr.freebsd.org as an example. -- Knowing that the ftp#.freebsd.org will be Tier-I with regular updates, those could be listed in the installer for a round-robin style selection as was suggested earlier.
