HELP! Please. I have a FreeBSD Firewall which has had the misfortune of an abnormal shutdown over the weekend (a lack of electricity is inclined to do that to you!). Now during boot I am unable to get fsck to sort out the disk inconsistencies. The following lines are part of the output, and they repeat every time I run fsck. This occurs while checking the /usr partition. ---------------------- ad0: HARD READ ERROR blk# 1573199 status=59 error=40 CANNOT READ: BLK 1048752 CONTINUE? [Y/N] ad0: HARD READ ERROR blk# 1573210 status=59 error=40 THE FOLLOWING DISK SECTORS COULD NOT BE READ: 1048863, PHASE 2: (etc) ---------------------- fsck reports the partition as dirty and requires that fsck be re-run, over and over and over and..... Is there any way to get past this? I would really prefer to avoid having to re-install the OS, but right now that seems to be my only option. Patrick. (with even less hair now than yesterday!)
