No surprise that FreeBSD's versioning system is counterintuitive to me. Why we still stay with the same version when adding major new functionality on top of a previous release is a mystery. If it was only bug-fixes, that'd be OK (2.2.5.1, ...). But as we know (and I easily forget), 2.2.6 development (major new features merged in) is effectively called 2.2.5-STABLE.
