Cisco 2924 (and 2950's and their ilk) continue to be budget-priced on eBay. 24 10/100 ports for $100 to $300 is a good buy. But the Cisco GigE offerings have been slow to come down in price. We recently bought a Linksys SRW2024. They're managable. The latest firmware plays well with firefox. They have a minimal telnet or serial console. And their front panel (right down to two mini-gbics) match one of the cisco models (prices 10x more on eBay) exactly. Now... I suppose what you loose is the cisco interface. I'm convinced it's in there. I'm convinced the hardware is the same, but $550 vs. $5500 is a big jump.
