Several responses have suggested this. The local dates on the files indicate the tarfile was unpacked locally on May 30. So my boot image is at least that old. I am already planning on getting the latest images and trying again. The RELNOTES file $Id string in my distribution reads: $Id: RELNOTES.FreeBSD,v 1.7 1995/05/28 19:49:57 jkh Exp $ > > - Since I've been retrying this, my partition table > > is already set up. Perhaps there should be a versioned clear-text file in the floppies directory noting the version and dates of boot.flp and root.flp so this question would be easier to answer. (I've tried to answer by looking at versions of other files from the same distribution). > *chuckle* With your background, I can't be sure whether this is > warlord flamebait, or an honestly-broken .sig 8) Chalk that one up to inexperience with SGI mailers - my previous experience was with suns that didn't include .signature anytime unless you asked. SGI mailers seem to include it by default all the time. >-- End of excerpt from Michael Smith
