Sender: questions-owner@freebsd.org Precedence: bulk I am trying to build a kernel that will recognize the CD-ROM on a SoundBlaster 16 card. I can't figure out from the LINT file which driver to compile into the kernel (I think it's either matcd or mcd). This is definitely not a SCSI interface, not enough leads on the ribbon cable. I do not have physical access to the machine and no way to recover from an incomplete boot so I have to be very cautious. Can anybody clear this up for me? While I'm asking, each of sb, sbxvi, and opl claim support for the SB16's sound capabilities. Could someone characterize their differences? I have been unable to find any documentation on this subject. can someone provide me a pointer to same? Finally, does including snd support imply excluding pca? TIA, Glen Foster
