Didn't boot --> new motherboard => booted. Then scsi raid array didn't come up (3x30GB IBM disks in RAID V array using adaptec 2100S controller) --> new controller card => raid array came to life. But I can only transfer files of up to 25MB in size. If it doesn't like a transfer, machine hangs. If shut down without a hang, complains that 1 (or more) buffer did not respond and says it is "giving up" on it. Then shuts down but RAID array has not been marked clean. New 4.6 system on IDE drive, and I have copied, painfully, some data from the array. But some files > 25MB and anyway, it will take all month to transfer in small lumps. Can anyone suggest any way to mount the array such that it can deliver its data? Or a way to transfer that won't clog the system? I've been mounting it read-only and that seems to help. I can copy large numbers of files in small groups but trying to copy either too many files at once or too large a file on its own causes the whole system to freeze and I have to reboot. All useful suggestions gratefully received. Peter Risdon. To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-questions" in the body of the message
