No, actually "man dbm" seems like a reasonable start; which goes nowhere.
And using web search engines for "berkeley dbm" goes nowhere also.
Greg's *excellent* book also doesn't speak about it.

I _did_ however get pointed to http://www.sleepycat.com which is GREAT help.
