Hi! I tried one last thing and plugged the promise controller into a different PCI slot. Now the machine boots ok. Can someone please explain this to me? I will try no other configurations until I know why this happens, but unfortunately the slot I use now is my 64bit PCI Slot which I wanted to use for a gigabit NIC... so if possible I would like to reslot the promise controller.
